A 20 minutes cruise from Debrigarh Nature Camp is one of the most popular islands of Hirakud Lake ‘The Island of Bats’ or ‘Bat Island’. More than 1000 Indian Fruit Bats, one of the largest bats in the world, is found across the island, roosting in large colonies on tall, open tree branches. A 45 minutes cruise from Debrigarh Nature Camp would take you to ‘Cattle Island’. In this interesting island, you will find a colony of Wild Cattle grazing and nibbling in the grassland. During the 1950s, the villagers living is these villages had domesticated cattle but when they relocated, the villagers left their cattle behind, so in due course of time, the generations of cattle population slowly became wild and as this island did not have any natural predators of the cattle so the population of cattle increased and remained wild.

This open-air gallery raises tourist awareness and fosters local guardianship.
